Contrary to popular belief, the Pteranodon is not a bird but a flying diapsid or pterosaur that lived in the Upper Cretaceous before. Thanks to its wings composed of thin membranes of taut skin like bats, the Pteranodon can fly by flapping its wings. It has no feathers but rather down to keep warm. Unlike other pterosaurs, this giant of the air has no teeth.
