Description

Diplocaulus is an amphibian from the Permian period. Its name means "double caul" because it has a very distinctive head that resembles a boomerang.

It's an amphibian. Its head is unusual and it is more difficult for predators to eat it. Many of the prehistoric creatures that swim in these waters probably wouldn't want to struggle trying to swallow it.
