Pleistocene of Pinar del Río, Cuba
This work depicts a misty morning in a wetland at the Cueva de Pío Domingo site in Pinar del Río province, the type locality for several species of great paleontological importance in Cuba. Frequent flooding washed animal remains into the caves, forming the rich deposits preserved today. Among the species shown are Ornimegalonyx oteroi, Megalocnus rodens, Chelonoidis cubensis, Macrocapromys acevedo, Antigone cubensis, Nesotrochis picapiquensis, Solenodon arredondoi, Neocnus gliriformis and Parocnus browni.
