Diplocaulus are prowling

Imagine this: 270 million years ago, you step into a Permian forest. No humans of course — and no mammals either. You find yourself in a radically different world, where some regions were dry and harsh, but pockets of lush, swampy environments still existed. Swamps like this, though less common than in the previous period, Carboniferous, did exist — and here you can see a Diplocaulus, a boomerang-headed amphibian resting in the shade.
